  JOURNEY BACK IN TIME

10:00 A.M. : All aboard! Leaving from Gatineau, enjoy riding the rails as the old but very comfortable H.C.W. Steam Train, built in 1907, chugs along the banks of the Gatineau river and the outskirts of Gatineau Park, en route to the charming village of Wakefield. With the beautiful scenery, the time just seems to zip by. Train will be back at 6:30 p.m.

2:00 P.M. : End of the excursion.

2:30 P.M. : Visit the Mackenzie King located in the heart of Gatineau Park. For close to fifty years, the Estate was the summer residence and haven of William Lyon Mackenzie King, Canada's 10th prime minister. When he died, Mackenzie King left this wooded area to Canada. Here, visitors can wander the trails that link the Estate to the recreational pathways of the rest of Gatineau Park. Restored chalets, romantic gardens and a picturesque collection of ruins all laid out by King await your visit. Live part of Canada's history as it was at the time of this former prime minister, with the help of interpreter-guides, audiovisual presentations and interpretation panels.

4:00 P.M. : Time for rest and enjoy the high tea at Moorside Tearoom.

7:00 P.M. : Good dinning at one of our gastronomic restaurant:

  • Le Baccarat, rated Five Diamonds by CAA/AAA,
  • Bistro Le 1908 , Bistro cuisine in a festive atmosphere
  • L’Orée du Bois, offering typical products from our ‘terroir’ for almost 20 years.
